Dr. Ron Malka took office as the Director General of the Ministry of Economy and Industry in August 2021, served until Dec 1th 2022. Dr. Ron Malka holds a BA in Economics and Business Administration (Magna Cum Laude), an MBA (Cum Laude) and a PhD in Economics specializing in finance (Cum Laude) all from the Bar Ilan University. Between 2018 and 2021, Dr. Malka served as Israel's Ambassador to India and Sri Lanka, a professional appointment by the Government of Israel, in which he managed one of the largest and most complex diplomatic missions of the State of Israel, during a particularly challenging period. Dr. Malka has many years of experience both in the academia and in financial consulting and he served as a director on several companies’ boards. In the academia, he was the founding Dean of the School of Capital Markets and Banking at the College of Law and Business in Ramat Gan. Among his positions on boards of directors, Dr. Malka served as an external director on the board of directors of the Israel Stock Exchange and in several of its committees and served as the acting chairman of the board. Dr. Malka retired from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 2007 with the rank of full colonel after 25 years of service. During most of his service, he held professional-managerial economic positions in the Budget Division of the Ministry of Defense and in the Chief Financial Officer's Unit. In his first nine years in the IDF, he held professional and command positions in a field unit of the Intelligence Corps. Dr. Malka is married and has three children.
