Prefect Vittorio Rizzi is, since March 2019, Deputy Director General of the Department of Public Security and Central Director of Criminal Police. Previously, he headed the Central Anti-Crime Directorate, which has, under its dependencies, the offices in charge of judicial police activity, territorial control, anti-crime activity, aimed at seizures of illicit assets and forensic police activity. In his career, he was a police officer at the Central Operations Service, where he led investigation against transnational crime, he also headed, for about 20 years, Judicial Police Offices in the cities of Venice, Milan, and Rome, leading investigation against organized crime and terrorism. Since 2018, he has been professor of Criminology at La Sapienza University in Rome.
