Prof. Chamovitz has led Ben-Gurion University since 2019. During this time, he launched a comprehensive strategic process focused on recruiting outstanding researchers. He guided the University through the events of October 7, 2023, and the subsequent war, during which more than 100 members of the BGU community were murdered and several were taken hostage in Gaza.
Prof. Chamovitz’s latest strategic initiative is Prism Negev – the Center for Regional Innovation, which brings together Negev-based regional councils and municipalities to advance shared regional goals. Ben-Gurion University is home to world-renowned cybersecurity researchers in the Stein Faculty of Computer and Information Science.
