Presiden, Federal Academy of Public Administration (BAköV), Germany

Professor Arne Schönbohm took office as President of the Federal Academy of Public Administration
at the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI) on 1 January 2023.
From February 2016 to the end of 2022, he served as President of the Federal Office for Information
Security (BSI).
Born in Hamburg in 1969, Professor Schönbohm studied international management in Dortmund,
London and Taipei and held executive positions in the area of IT security for more than ten years.
Prior to becoming the chief executive officer of BSS BuCET Shared Services AG (BSS AG) in 2008, a
management consultancy which focuses on cyber security, he held various posts at the European
Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS), ultimately serving as its Vice President for
Commercial and Defence Solutions.
After completing his studies in international business management, Professor Schönbohm began his
career in industry as a trainee at DaimlerChrysler Aerospace in Munich. He also worked as a security
expert and consultant for policy-makers at federal and state level, for example as a member of the
European Union’s Cyber Security Coordination Group.
On 22 July 2024, Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) appointed him as an
adjunct professor. He works in the field of digital security for government, businesses and
society at the university's Institute for Safety and Security Research.
He has authored several books, including “Deutschlands Sicherheit – Cybercrime und Cyberwar”
(Germany’s security: cyber crime and cyber war, 2011).
